Sam Altman has relinquished his position as the head of the OpenAI Startup Fund, a role that had been designed as a short-term assignment. Initially, Altman’s control could have led to potential problems had he not returned to his CEO duties.

Now, Ian Hathaway, a member of the OpenAI team since 2021, has taken over formal management of the fund. Currently, the fund boasts $325 million in assets and has made investments in 16 startups across varying sectors, including healthcare and self-driving technology.
