Opera introduces local usage of large language models for users.
Opera has updated its browser to let users operate large language models (LLMs) directly on their personal computers, beginning with Opera One clients. This addition includes access to more than 150 models stemming from approximately 50 different types. To facilitate this capability, Opera is utilizing Ollama, which is an open source system. Although each model variant requires around 2GB of space, Opera has not yet taken steps to minimize storage usage. While this function is handy for experimenting with various models, users can also find similar tools online. Opera’s integration of AI-centric features started the previous year, marking a significant shift in the browser’s functionality.
